History Highlights

In 1893 the Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brattleboro, Vermont received its charter. The congregation numbered sixteen families, 19 young men and 14 women. A year later they dedicated the sanctuary and in 1939 changed the name to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, as Swedish language was no longer in use. Nearly ten years later in 1948, the church moved to its current location and the first service was celebrated on Christmas Eve. Although the plastor was still drying on the walls, it was truly a festive occasion. The men and women of the congregation donated hundreds of hours of volunteer labor to the building of the new edifice. And there were many items from the old church that found their way to the new building. They include the altar, altar rail, pulpit, the beautiful altar painting and its handsome frame, and the pews.
